NeuroPerspective, a newsletter that tracks neurological treatments, says in the past five years the number of drugs being developed by large drugmakers for brain and nervous system disorders fell 50% to 129 - but that last year, investors poured $3.3 billion into the field, more than in any of the last ten years.

Canadian 2500 MHz auction raises CAD 755 mln

(Telecompaper) Canadian Industry Minister James Moore said nine companies acquired spectrum during the 2500 MHz auction, which raised a total of CAD 755.37 million. Moore said that a total of 318 licences in 61 areas across the country were offered in the 2500 MHz auction. All spectrum licences contained strict "use it or lose it" deployment requirements. Bell, Quebecor, Telus and CCI Wireless were among the operators which bought licenses.

Exor, the investment vehicle of Italy's billionaire Agnelli family, now plans to pay $137.50 a share for the Bermuda-based company. The Turin-based investor has backed its $6.8 billion bid by buying 9.32 percent of PartnerRe.
ThyssenKrupp raises full-year outlook

German industrial conglomerate ThyssenKrupp AG on Tuesday raised its outlook for the 2015 fiscal year, even as the company posted a steep decline in net profit for the second quarter. The steelmaker said it now expects adjusted earnings before interest and taxes for this year to increase "significantly" to between EUR1.6 billion and EUR1.7 billion, up from an earlier prediction of EUR1.5 billion.
