Microwave Instrument Engineer REF. VN1518 Working within the Instrument Team of our Low Earth Orbit Division, you will take ownership of following up the development of Microwave Sounder MWS, Microwave Imager MWI and Ice Cloud Imager ICI instruments and their level 1 processors for the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation EPSSG with its METOPSG satellites. Notably, you will focus on instrument definition, development, testing, prelaunch, commissioning and inorbit performance assessment for the six METOPSG satellites. This will imply ensuring that instrument specifications meet end user requirements, monitoring industrial development activities, ensuring timely availability of deliverable items and analysing performances, whilst participating in major system reviews, activities related to system end to end performance validation, and Anomaly Review Boards. To be equal to the challenge, you will require a degreelevel qualification in a relevant discipline such as Physics, Electrical Engineering or Remote Sensing, backed by experience in the development of microwave instruments and ideally experience of developing satellite data processing packages. Your Tasks Support to MHS and NOAA Instruments Engineering Activities The Key person, the MHS and NOAA Instruments Engineer, will be responsible to follow up the instruments project and shall report to the LEO Instrument Team Leader. The tasks of the MHS and NOAA Instruments Engineer shall include the following Participation to Metop satellite AIV, Launch and Commissioning activities relevant to the MHS and NOAA instruments, including operation of the MHS EGSE, data analysis, preparation of procedures and test reports instrument ground testing at sc level, endtoend testing at system level, satellite inorbit verification. Follow up of all activities related to the NOAA instruments including AVHRR and SEM instruments onground calibration. Support inorbit checkout verification tests during MetopC In Orbit Verification IOV. Investigation of onground and inorbit instrument anomalies and support operations to the relevant recovery actions. Provide general support to the Metop Operations Team for MHS and NOAA instruments matters. Analyse and assess both onground and inorbit performances of MHS and NOAA instruments. Participation to instrument reviews and other meetings with industry and other partners such as ESA, NOAANASA. Maintenance of regular contacts with the above mentioned EUMETSAT partners and industry in relation to MHS and NOAA instruments. Maintenance of a status list of MHS action items, nonconformancesanomalies, requests for waivers and deviations. Preparation and maintenance of instrument related documents, as well as presentation material e.g. Instrument Operational Manuals Support to other Instruments Although support to MHS and NOAA instruments is the primary task of the Key person, heshe may be requested to provide a similar type of management and engineering support to the LEO Instrument Team Leader for other instruments. Your Profile The Key person is required to have the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with the minimum of supervision and minimum training. The Key person shall have a university degree in engineering or physics and, as a pre requisite, a background of at least 5 years in space hardware projects possibly with Earth observation instruments. Experience in project management positions is desirable together with the ability to follow satellite level Payload AIV activities. The Key person shall also have some knowledge of PAQA processes and procedures and good general computing skills, with familiarity with Microsoft Office software Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.. Previous experience in AIVAIT and commissioning activities is regarded as advantageous along with experience of working on a collaborative programme between different partners. Optical Instrument Engineer 1513021 Job Description We are looking for an Optical Instrument Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT at their headquarters in Darmstadt. You will be working within Low Earth Orbit LEO Instrument Team and will be responsible, inter alia, to follow activities relevant to the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS instruments, such as monitoring instrument performance during ground tests, systemlevel tests and satellite commissioning, up to routine operations. You will be in charge of following all activities relevant to the instruments IASI, which is a Michelson interferometer operating in the Infrared spectra, between 3.6 to 15.5 m and GOME, which contributes to atmospheric chemistry providing absorption spectra from 240nm UV to 790nm SWIR with moderate spectral resolution.
