Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description JUICE JUpiter ICy moons Explorer is the first largeclass mission in ESAs Cosmic Vision 20152025 programme. Planned for launch in 2022 and arrival at Jupiter in 2030, it will spend at least three years making detailed observations of the giant gaseous planet Jupiter and three of its largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa. The Planetary Protection Engineer will be responsible for the activities within the JUICE project team. In the frame of the JUICE Space project, Terma AS is pleased to invite you to submit your application as Planetary Protection Engineer. As a Planetary Protection Engineer you will be responsible for Finalizing the Planetary Protection Plan, Preparing the planetary Protection Implementation Plan Preparing the Planetary Protection Reports PreLaunch, Postlaunch to be submitted to the ESA Planetary Protection Officer Eventually, through the above activities, you are responsible for assessing the compliance of JUICE spacecraft against Planetary Protection requirements. This is a full time position, located at our customer site in Toulouse, France, starting in September 2016. Travels within Europe are required for this position. Responsibilities As a Planetary Protection Engineer your tasks will include Local management Overall management and coordination of the activity Interface and reporting Review and approve progress reports, provide final approval of deliverable documents Planetary Protection analysis Reviewing applicable documents in order to refine the impact probability requirement with margin refine requirement flow down at system and subsystem level Refining the likelihood of mission critical failures which may cause an inadvertent impact on MarsEuropa to refine the baseline operational strategy for MarsEuropa Flyby in case of failure e.g. trade between standard redundancy schemeredundancy availability control OR a standard redundancy schemeredundancy availability control PLUS an escape strategy. Supporting eventually the Prime team to define and assess the escape strategy Planetary Protection documentation Updating Planetary Protection plan Preparing Planetary Protection analyses report Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a suitable educational level, such as a university degree in a relevant field, together with several years experience in calculating interplanetary missions.
