American Electric Power and the Sierra Club have agreed on a proposed plan that would lead to what are believed to be the largest investments in wind and solar power in Ohio history. The Columbus Dispatch reports the Sierra Club is dropping opposition to an eight-year profit guarantee for selected coal-fired power plants in exchange for several provisions.

The city of Clyde will purchase all the electricity generated by the solar panels to help meet the energy needs of the city's 3,000 municipal customers through a 20-year power purchase agreement.
