(Telecompaper) The Commission established rules in 2015 to facilitate shared access between federal government bodies and other users of the 3.5 GHz band, creating what is known as Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS). (Telecompaper) The German networks regulator has ruled out requiring domestic roaming under the new 5G licences to support an eventual newcomer on the mobile market, Handelsblatt reports. According to the terms of the auction seen by the paper, the Bundesnetzagentur also decided not to make nationwide coverage mandatory with the new frequencies, as the bands are not suitable, it said.

Dtac, AIS win 1,800 MHz licences for THB 12.5 billion

(Telecompaper) Thai mobile operators Dtac and AIS have won spectrum in the 1,800 MHz band with bids of THB 12.5 billion (EUR 330 million) each. The only two bidders in the auction each acquired 15-year licences for 2x5 MHz.

Canada sells leftover spectrum licences, Cogeco spends CAD 24 mln

(Telecompaper) Canada has completed an auction of leftover spectrum licences in the 700 MHz, 2,500 MHz, 2,300 MHz and PCS-G bands. Cogeco Communications was the top bidder, acquiring 23 licences of 2,500 MHz and 2,300 MHz spectrum, primarily in its Ontario and Quebec wireline footprint, for a total of CAD 24.3 million.
