Job Description For our client, the European Space Agency ESA, we are looking for a Radio Navigation Engineer for their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, to join their Commer. User Segm Nav. Syst. Val. Section Tasks and Responsibilities Support design, implementation, maintenance and operation of Radio Navigation equipment, complex Radio Navigation simulation tools and test facilities for testing features endtoend performances, receivers, etc. with particular focus to multiGNSS multifrequency receivers Support to Navigation Projects e.g. EGNOS and GALILEO, RD and Testing activities in the fields of system and mainly receivers performances for sensor station receivers and user receivers Support to the EGNOS and GALILEO Ground Mission Segment team, including SubSystem level engineering activities, Verification activities and participation to SubSystem reviews. Requirements University degree MSc minimum in telecommunications and signal processing or electronic engineering, as well as experience in these fields Specific knowledge on Satellite Radio Navigation Systems, ranging and positioning techniques and technologies, including latest trends in massmarket multiGNSS receivers, high accuracy and robust PNT Specific and Strong knowledge and experience on the design, development and testing of Radio Navigation receivers from test receivers to professional and massmarket, including signal processing, positioning algorithms, Radio Frequency, multiantenna and sensor hybridisation aspects At least 4 years of experience relevant with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment and have good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation and testing systems Familiarity with GNSS Android Raw Measurements, Java programming and carrier phase based positioning techniques PPP and RTK is considered an asset Knowledge on EGNOS Overlay System, including the evolution to EGNOSv3 is considered an asset Knowledge on virtualization and data centric processing is considered an asset Specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration. Overview The work includes specification, design and security risk analysis of radio navigation satellite systems, with emphasis on security and cryptography aspects. The position is in support to the Galileo System Security Unit in the Galileo Security Office. The principal tasks and responsibilities will include Definition and evaluation of system security design concepts. Definition of GALILEO system and segment requirements, interacting with system and segment experts, focussing on cyber security and PRS topics. Evaluation of segment proposals focussing on cyber security and PRS. Support to the ESA Engineering Board process, in order to maintain the requirements system baseline using DOORS. Support to Procurement, Development, Integration, Validation of System Security Tools validating the Navigation System Concept. Support to PRS Test Benches whenever required by the ESA Galileo Security Office. Supporting technology developments Signal generator and Receiver in preparation of PRS test bench and security activities. Supporting the procurement of system tools e.g. Emulators, Test Bed contributing to the proof of concept and experimentation of PRS evolutions. Participation in the overall Radio Navigation RD roadmap, focussed on cybersecurity engineering aspects, with emphasis on the domains of Radio Navigation receivers and other System Verification Tools. Specific qualification requirements Master degree in Telecommunications, Electric Engineering, or cybersecurity engineering, as well as experience in these fields. Specific and strong knowledge on Satellite Radio Navigation Systems, ranging and positioning techniques and technologies, including latest trends in robust PNT. Extensive experience in the design and development of large distributed security systems. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
