NEMA has published NEMA HV 2-2014 Suspension and Post Type Insulators for Electric Power Overhead Lines General Use Information. HV 2 provides guidelines for proper use of insulators and suggestions for precautions to be taken against improper use. ANSI/NEMA C29.2B covers transmission suspension-type insulators 9 in. in diameter and larger, made of wet-process porcelain or of toughened glass, and used in the transmission of electrical energy.
