Vodafone maintains div on underlying FY growth, sees lower EBITDA in new year

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Group reported revenues for the year to March up 3.0 percent to EUR 45.0 billion, helped by its takeover of Liberty Global's cable assets and underlying service revenue growth of 0.8 percent to EUR 37.9 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 2.6 percent on an organic basis to EUR 14.9 billion, in line with its outlook, and Vodafone said the result is likely to be flat to slightly lower in the new year.
ZTE reports 20% better underlying profit in Q1

(Telecompaper) ZTE said operating revenues for the first quarter slipped to CNY 21.48 billion from 22.02 billion the year before, and that the net profit declined to CNY 780 million from 863 million year-on-year. The net profit after extraordinary items however rose 20.5 percent to CNY 160 million. Basic earnings per share went to CNY 0.18.

AT&T posts drop in underlying earnings as TV market ht by Covid-19 restrictions

(Telecompaper) AT&T reported first-quarter revenues down 4.6 percent to USD 42.8 billion, as its WarnerMedia division suffered from the Covid-19 outbreak's impact on the film and TV industry and the operator continued to lose pay-TV subscribers. Ongoing cost-reduction efforts helped limit the impact on profits, and AT&T said it was on track with its strategic investments, while conserving cash for the upcoming economic slowdown. Given the economic uncertainty, the group withdrew its guidance for the year.
Telenor offers higher dividend after drop in profit in 2019, sees return to underlying EBITDA growth in 2020

(Telecompaper) Telenor has increased its dividend by 4 percent to NOK 8.7 per share, despite a drop in net profit over the past year due to divestments and provisions. Cash flow also turned negative after the acquisition of DNA in Finland. Underlying EBITDA fell 2.6 percent, in line with its outlook, and Telenor said it aims to return the figure to growth of 2-4 percent in the new year. Organic revenue growth is estimated flat to 2 percent higher this year, after a 1.2 percent rise in 2019.
The Human Problems Underlying Intel's Diversity Report

When Intel released its diversity report last week, it got pounded for the lack of diversity in its executive staff. Intel is one of the few companies being transparent about diversity. Given that lack of diversity is the problem we want to solve, the bashing is stupid. It is only going to make it harder to address the problem. In effect, Intel did the right thing and was punished for it.
