San Bruno: PG&E asks court to toss out some charges in explosion criminal case

PG&E has asked a federal judge to dismiss seven of the 28 counts that government prosecutors filed against the utility for its role in causing a fatal explosion of natural gas in San Bruno, and the court in the case says it will consider PG&E's request. Separately, San Francisco-based PG&E announced on Tuesday a sale of its stock to help pay for penalties imposed on it by state regulators.

A $1.2 million settlement has been reached in a wrongful death lawsuit over a keg explosion at a New Hampshire brewery. The Portsmouth Herald reports 26-year-old worker Benjamin Harris died in April 2012 while pressurizing a plastic beer keg with air at the Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth.
