GomSpace is a nanosatellite specialist established over 10 years ago, listed in Stockholm and with a very good track record in the market for nanosatellites. We are seeking a Simulations Engineer to join the growing software innovation team in Luxembourg. You will be responsible for the modelling and development simulations for our GomSpace MegaConstellations Operations Platform, a modern highly scalable cloudbased platform to operate the space and ground segment of satellite constellations. You will work in a multinational team, as part of our DevOps team, interacting regularly with the systems engineers and satellite operators. This role is based in Luxembourg. The Job Incluces the Following Set of Tasks Reviewing existing models, designing and implementing them Integrate those models in the platform Review realworld data to calibrate the model Optimize the model for scalability of constellations Be part of the DevOps team developing the platform We expect the Employee to Have the Following Qualifications Experience with robotics, mechatronics, swarms, simulations or systems engineering Experience with algorithms for simulation of both continuous time systems and discrete events systems incl. implementation in general purpose programming languages e.g. C or Java Good technical, analytical and communication skills. Preferential Qualifications Experience with distributed simulation systems Familiar with space systems engineering. Quick learner of new technologies. Working experience in Agile teams. LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of Simulations Officer mf to work in Darmstadt Germany. The core tasks of the position will be Skills and Experience Support SSST Simulator procurement and development team by providing Operation expertise over the project life cycle and during reviews. Support FOM developments with SSST and industry via SSST , via for example dedicated workshops. Contribute to Joint Operation Plan JORP and Operation Interface Control Documents OICD. Support definition of anomaly processing workflow with SSST and follow it. Define and put into place EUMETSAT MetOpSG simulator and simulations campaigns, Anomaly Reporting and NCR processing Support to SSST for Simulator factory acceptance testing and integration to MCS. Manage SIM scenarios, and support Ops Prep Simulations and SSVT validation. Define the nominal and contingency satellite simulator scenarios to ensure proper training of the teams involved in EUMETSAT simulation campaigns and SIOV routine operations rehearsals. Provide support to Spacecraft Ops Engineers in anomaly investigation phases and recovery procedures testing Simulation versus Satellite expertise. Ensure team training on Simulator usage. Plan, schedule, prepare and conduct the Rehearsal Sessions, including involvement of external support team, as required. Coordinate with Training Officer to assess Operational readiness of operation teams Ensure proper training of Simulator deputy within routine operation team. Focal point in the OPIT Team for coordination and interactions with SSST and external partners via SSST . Maintain Simulator operation guide and associated technical documentations The following skills and experience are mandatory Experience in the full cycle of development of application software for satellite simulators, following formal software engineering processes. This includes system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Experience in the definition and design of SMP2 compliant software models of spacecraft service platform subsystems DHS, AOCS, Thermal, Electrical,.... Knowledge and understanding with working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS with specific reference to ECSSE7041A TM and TC packet utilization. Have demonstrated experience of working in a multipartner programme Experienced in supporting specific operation preparation phases such as SSVT, validation campaigns or rehearsals for routine operations or LEOP. Capability to lead simulation campaigns and assess teams readiness prior launch. Knowledge of Operation life cycle and Operation Preparation tools such as procedure editor and databases management tools. Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people. Work in teams and good interpersonal skills to coordinate with team leaders and key stakeholders as well as in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Work proactively with capability to lead a small team, with the minimum of supervision. Perform effectively under high workloads and be able to adapt to a rapidlychanging timecritical environment. Conducting activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, working calmly and correctly under stress. Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen. The following would be an advantage for the key person to have Good knowledge of working methods and corporate culture of EUMETSAT partners and other agencies such as ESA, ESOC, DLR, CNES and space industry. Experience with software support to operations and in particular to TMITC database and OBSW images import. Experience on TMTC front ends like CORTEX. Possess excellent skills in managing interactions in a multipartnership model. Experience in modular simulator framework components and standards modular satellite simulators, Ground Models, Generic Models, REFAlnorbit System operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites. OBSW maintenance expertise obtained in the development or operations of Low Earth Orbit. Spacecraft Operations Engineering obtained on an inorbit satellite or in an operations preparation environment Critical Operational phases such as LEOP, SIOV, and Commissioning phases. o Familiarity with procedure development toolset. Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Are you a Polyglot who loves using the right language tool for the job? Do you come from a simulations background and interested in learning about satellites, space and the software that enables the satellites to operate? Then this is the role for you! The division you will be joining is comprised of transnational departments UK, France and Germany. The division provides a central competence for Simulator development, onboard software testing product development for spacecraft platforms, payloads and equipment. You will be trained in the expertise of creating simulations to simulate in orbit operations and validate onboard software simulations. You will be getting your teeth into complex challenges and architecture. Within the simulator domain, we are responsible for developing and maintaining numerical simulators used for the functional validation of satellite and rovers Verification of the Guidance Navigation and Control algorithms and performance in closed loop Development and validation of the onboard software Validation of the spacecraft functional chains and interfaces software and hardware Although this role is based in the UK, the transnational team operates across 3 countries France, Germany and UK and as such you must be able to travel on average 34 times a year. The successful candidate will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role. As a Simulations Engineer you will design, develop and integrate specific modules of the simulator e.g. functional models of spacecraft equipment as well as support endusers with existing simulators functionality training and bug fixes.
