Major Jacksonville pension reform bill gets a green light

The Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund approved a major pension-reform deal Friday morning, bringing some closure to years-long, frustrated efforts by the city's elected officials to reduce the burdensome costs of police and firefighter retirements. It is also a big win for Mayor Alvin Brown, who made pension-reform a top priority of his four years in office, and City Councilman Bill Gulliford, who stepped in late to negotiate a deal with the pension fund's executive director, John Keane, that was based on an earlier piece of reform legislation Brown pushed.
Jacksonville to manufacture 'strange' helicopters

Jacksonville will be the manufacturing site of a newly resumed - and strangely designed - helicopter from Connecticut-based Kaman Corporation . The K-MAX K-1200 , which was off the line for a 12-year hiatus, will be built in the company's Jacksonville and Bloomfield, Connecticut, facilities.

Deutsche Bank growing in Jacksonville, cutting elsewhere

Germany-based Deutsche Bank last week announced its co-CEOs are resigning, six weeks after they announced their 'Strategy 2020' plan that included 'reducing the number of countries or local presences by 10-15 percent.' While company officials have not mentioned specific cuts, Deutsche Bank did say it would continue to invest in certain markets and, apparently, Jacksonville is one of them.

Sauer lands $3.5 million Catholic education project in Jacksonville

Sauer Inc. has won a contract to build a $3.5 million educational building for Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville. The two-story building at 2431 Atlantic Blvd. will have 26,000 square feet, Sauer said in a news release.
