Western Digital's HGST subsidiary has announced the commercial availability of the world's first hermetically sealed, helium-filled hard drive, the Ultrastar He6 -- a 6-terabyte monster that, along with being the first helium-filled drive, just happens to be the highest-capacity hard drive in the world.

It took Western Digital's HGST subsidiary more than a decade to develop a way to reliably seal helium gas inside of a hard drive. It was worth the wait. HGST Monday announced that it's now shipping a helium-filled, 3.5-inch hard disk drive with 50 percent more capacity than the current industry leading 4TB drives. The new drive uses 23 percent less power and is 38 percent lighter than the 4TB drives.

FirstEnergy crews are restoring power to those hit hard by the early October snowfall.

The company's website says around 28,370 are without power as of Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. An additional 150 crews from FirstEnergy Corp utilities Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison, Penelec and West Penn Power are expected to arrive in the hardest hit areas throughout the day to assist with the restoration process.
