BIO World Congress on Biotech will feature NSF SBIR companies.

In partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF), BIO will feature Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)-funded, early-stage industrial biotech companies at BIO's 13th Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology (San Diego, CA from April 17–20). BIO's Brent Erickson explained that, "Through the SBIR grant program, qualified companies can move forward and bring innovative technologies to market" and encouraged attendees to "stop by and learn about these exciting companies."

NIST announces new round of SBIR program grants.

NIST Small Business Innovation Research program is announcing that its FY 2016 Federal Funding Opportunity is open. SBIR is a competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in federally funded research and development opportunities that have potential for commercialization. Phase I is used to determine the technical feasibility of the research and will close on April 14, 2016. Awards of up to $100,000 are given.
