The CFPB has announced that it has entered into a consent order with a Colorado buy-here pay-here used car dealer to settle charges that the dealer's sales and advertising practices violated the Truth in Lending Act and the Consumer Financial Protection Act prohibition of unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices. The consent order requires the dealer to pay $700,000 in restitution and imposes a civil penalty of $100,000 which is suspended based on the dealer's inability to pay.

The B.C. Motor Vehicle Sales Authority has turned down a request to reconsider fines against the former principal of Northland Chrysler Jeep Dodge. In August 2015, Brent Marshall was fined $3,550 after the MVSA found he had engaged in deceptive practices in relation to the sale of four used vehicles advertised in a flyer distributed to communities outside of Prince George for the 2013 Mega Sale.

Car dealer fined for assaulting teen

The former boss of Big Rock Toyota has been fined $5000 and granted a spent conviction after being convicted for indecently assaulting a teenage employee. At a trial late last year Frank Delli-Benedetti, 51, was found guilty of one charge of indecent assault, and was acquitted of six further accusations of sexual assaults on staff members at the northern suburbs dealerships.
