New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra announced Saturday that tests of some ingredients used in infant formula and sports drinks have turned up a type of bacteria that could cause botulism, and customers were urgently checking their supply chains.

Arla Foods to shut down dairy and distribution facility in UK

Swedish-Danish dairy co-operative Arla Foods has announced plans to shut down its dairy and distribution facility in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, UK in April 2014, a move which will lead to a loss of up to 370 jobs.

Protein Dairy Beverage with More Protein

Safeway Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., launched Lucerne Plus Protein Dairy Beverage, a line of dairy drinks that provide at least 30% more protein and 30% less sugar than regular milk, 12 grams of protein per 1-cup serving vs. 9 grams in regular fat-free milk, and 8 grams of sugar vs. 12 grams in regular fat-free milk.
