In a chilling and detailed account of the shooting, the police department's chief of detectives, Robert Boyce, said the gunman, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, first walked past the patrol car, crossed the street and then approached the car from behind.

SME announced its 2015 officers and directors, who will comprise its Board of Directors. In addition to new and returning officers and directors, SME will welcome 2015 President Wayne F. Frost, CMfgE. New/returning officers include President-Elect Dean L. Bartles, PhD; Vice President Sandra L. Bouckley; Treasurer Thomas R. Kurfess, PhD; and Secretary Mark L. Michalski.
