Tasks The successfull candidate shall perform tasks related to all aspects of mission planning for the routine operation of all EUMETSATs LEO missions. The tasks of this position include Performing routine weekly or biweekly and contingency scheduling tasks using the mission planning facility Performing preventative maintenance of the mission planning facility according to working practice, generally by running system checks to spot any system anomalies or errors Raising anomaly reports when necessary and monitoring their resolution through attendance at appropriate review boards. Supplying context and initial analyses that may aid the investigation of anomalies Responding to mission planning related anomalies and operational contingencies promptly Maintenance of mission planning documentation such as the user guide document and the operational implementation document Liaising with external entities where necessary in order to fulfil joint operations requirements. Maintaining documentation concerning this Maintaining a detailed understanding of the space and ground segment operational needs that are met through mission planning. Through regular liaison with space and ground segment experts, implementing, testing and documenting new or modified operational needs that are met through mission planning Performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the Mission planning operational implementation for all missions, in all mission phases. The Mission planning operational implementation resides in a relational database and associated business rule management system, and is used to generate schedules related to satellite payload mission planning Rolling out of new versions of the mission planning operational implementation following approved configuration management procedures Contributing to the definition of any changes to the supplied mission planning application software or to inhouse supporting software that could lead to performance andor ergonomics improvements. Contributing to the process of implementing such changes, and liaising with any external contractors that may be performing the changes Contributing to the definition and raising of Engineering Change Proposals and Change Requests concerning mission planning, and attending ECP Review Board meetings if necessary Contributing to the operational validation of new versions of the MPF application software, including testing of ARNCR correction and new functionality. This may include FAT or OSAT attendance Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews long term scheduling, schedule consolidation, anomaly review boards, etc Training of personnel in Mission Planning oncall and routine scheduling tasks as required In the scope of EPS only, performing routine scheduling tasks at the BUCC, Madrid in support of periodic or emergency activations, as defined within the Mission Planning team In the scope of EPS only, managing and monitoring schedule execution on all ground segments on a daily basis and responding to anomalies and operational contingencies promptly In the scope of Copernicus Sentinel3 only, performing the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the MPS rules and constraints file in collaboration with the Flight Control Team In the scope of Copernicus Sentinel3 only, maintaining an understanding of the SCOS2000 MCS Working Operational Database, in which the linkage between sequences Requests and telecommands is defined Providing mission planning support to other operational missions or future missions as required Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Engineer shall have at least 3 years experience of low earth orbit LEO spacecraft and ground segment system operations. The following experience is required At least 3 years of routine mission planning operations At least 3 years experience in the production and maintenance of mission planning operational rules using a Javalike Business Rules Management System e.g. JBoss Drools or ILOG Rules At least 2 years of working with files in XML format Experience in the operational validation of mission planning software systems Experience with Software Version Control Systems e.g. CVS, SVN or Git and Software Configuration Management Systems e.g. Serena Dimensions Desirable requirements At least 2 years working with relational databases and sql, preferably involving Oracle database administration At least 2 years of LinuxUnix operating system administration At least 1 year of software development in C, with knowledge of Oracle database access using ProC advantageous Other Information Start date is 1 July 2016
