Brazil's state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA said it delayed the release of its third-quarter financial results for a second time on Friday as a result of new developments in a widening corruption probe. Prosecutors on Thursday indicted executives of some of the country's largest engineering firms for allegedly skimming billions of dollars off overpriced contracts with the oil giant in a kickback and bribery scheme.

Suspects charged include Paulo Roberto Costa, former director of Petrobras' refining division as well as 23 executives from big Brazilian construction companies, and Alberto Youssef, who allegedly deals currency on the black market and distributed the bribe payments, according to Market Watch . A member of the group of federal prosecutors in the investigation told the publication they are looking to recover at least 1 billion reals through the charges, and have ruled out any possible out-of-court settlements.

Brazilian prosecutors on Thursday filed charges against 36 suspects in a corruption investigation alleging construction companies bribed public officials and overbilled state-controlled energy giant Petroleo Brasileiro SA Among those charged were 23 executives from six of the biggest construction companies in Brazil: Camargo CorrAaa SA, Engevix, GalvA o Engenharia, Mendes JAonior, OAS and UTC Engenharia SA. Also among them were Paulo Roberto Costa, the former director of Petrobras' refining division, and Alberto Youssef, an alleged black-market currency dealer who is accused of distributing the bribe payments.
