Charter Communications Inc. formally made its case to the Federal Communications Commission for its $78.7 billion acquisition of Time Warner Cable , arguing that the merger would provide consumers with faster, cheaper Internet service. In the Thursday filing with the FCC, Charter said that broadband services provided by the merged company would cost less than those currently offered by Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, which Charter also is seeking to acquire, Reuters reports.

This injunction is big for whistleblowers everywhere, as it could redefine the protection given to whistleblowers to include what is disclosed to the news media.

Delta Will Stay at Dallas Airport Until Court Hears Case

Delta Air Lines will stay at Dallas Love Field - for now - while the airline and rival Southwest argue in court about space at the crowded airport. Delta operates five daily flights at a gate borrowed from United Airlines , but that deal ends July 6. United subleased the gate and one other to Southwest Airlines , and Southwest went to federal court to remove Delta.
Electronics firm's securities fraud case reinstated

A federal appeals court has reinstated a securities fraud class action lawsuit against an electronics company and three of its officers, who were charged with "knowingly and recklessly" propping up the company's stock price when it was being considered for an acquisition that eventually fell through. Tuesday's ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in In Re: Harman International Industries Inc. Securities Litigation focused on two statements officials of Stamford, Connecticut-based Harman allegedly made during conference calls with analysts in April and September 2007, and a third that was made in its annual report in August 2007.
