Cisco ordered to pay USD 1.9 bln to cybersecurity firm for infringing patents

(Telecompaper) Cisco has been ordered to pay USD 1.9 billion to Centripetal Networks for copying its cybersecurity patents, Reuters reported. A US district judge in Norfolk, Virginia made the ruling, saying Cisco was found to have infringed four patents belonging to Centripetal Networks, also based in Virginia. The judge did not find infringement of a fifth patent.

On Monday, after a lengthy trial, US District Judge Henry Morgan ruled that Cisco had indeed infringed on four patents held by Centripetal Networks related to their cybersecurity solutions. He ruled that Cisco was liable to pay $755.8 million in damages suffered by Centripetal, with the amount increased 2.5-fold to around $1.9 billion to punish Cisco for their poor conduct. Cisco quarterly revenues fall 9%, sees continued drop in October quarter

(Telecompaper) Cisco reported a slightly bigger drop in revenues in its fiscal fourth quarter to July, down 9 percent to USD 12.2 billion compared to an 8 percent fall in the previous quarter. Revenues were near the high end of its guidance. Earnings still increased 22 percent year-on-year to USD 0.62, helped by lower taxes.

Telenor and Cisco expand cooperation, agree finance from Digital Alpha for Working Group Two

(Telecompaper) Telenor Group and Cisco have announced a joint purpose agreement (JPA) concerning activities such as security, 5G, Open vRAN, B2B expansion, distributed cloud, and extending Telenor's digital transformation to support flexible working. The JPA also covers more financing for their Working Group Two (WG2) joint venture to enable growth, global operations and new uses for 5G, IoT and private networks. WG2 has been added to the Cisco General Price List and will be part of DevNet.

What made this event very different from the other games was the amount of effort they put into socially responsible projects.
