Liquid Telecom plans 2016 listing on European bourse

(Telecompaper) Econet Group founder Strive Masiyiwa says he is considering a separate listing in 2016 for subsidiary Liquid Telecom, a major operator of fibre and business satellite services in Africa. Masiyiwa, who is the Econet Group executive chairman, said the company had decided to opt to list Liquid after spurning several multi-billion dollar offers for it. He said Econet had received several unsolicited offers for Liquid, but it wants it to remain an independent access provider of internet in Africa, The Herald reported.

Mobinil to offer stake on bourse or to local partner in 2016

(Telecompaper) French telecom operator Orange said Egyptian subsidiary Mobinil is planning to offer 10-15 percent of its stock on the Cairo bourse next year, or to sell the stake to a local partner. The group's CEO Stephane Richard also said at a news conference in the Egyptian capital Cairo that Orange will increase its stake in a Moroccan subsidiary to 49 percent from 40 percent, as part of plans to expand in North Africa, Reuters reported.

China's Greenland to acquire Rundong Auto -bourse filing

May 17 Chinese developer Greenland Holding Group Company Ltd will pay HK$1.5 billion for a controlling stake in luxury auto dealer China Rundong Auto Group Ltd, the latter said in a stock exchange filing in Hong Kong on Sunday. Rundong Auto, backed by U.S. private equity firm KKR & Co LP , said it will sell a 46 percent controlling stake to Greenland and change its name to China Greenland Rundong Auto Group Limited.

(Telecompaper) Tanzanian mobile operators are set to list on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) in 2015 as part of regulatory requirements, Reuters reported. A law aims to allow Tanzanians to have meaningful shareholdings in the country's telecoms industry. Operators that could list on the bourse are likely to include Vodacom, Airtel, Tigo and Zantel. Mobile phone usage has shot through the roof in Tanzania in the past ten years, making the telecoms the fastest-growing economic sector there.
