David Ige said Monday that the state does not need liquefied natural gas as part of its energy future and says Hawaii should focus on developing renewable energy rather than importing LNG. "I have reached the conclusion that Hawaii does not need LNG in our future," said Ige, one of the keynote speakers at the Asia-Pacific Resilience Innovation Summits & Expo in Honolulu.

India's gem and jewelry industry leaders deferred a rough diamond import ban, for now, and urged self discipline at manufacturing businesses that import and purchase rough stones. In a meeting held today between the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council , the Bharat Diamond Bourse and Maharashtra Diamond Merchant Association , leaders discussed the way forward given a sluggish outlook for diamond demand, severe lack of liquidity and profitability at the manufacturing level and the misalignment of rough prices against polished prices.
