Ghana has halted a plan to test two Ebola vaccines in an eastern town after legislators backed local protests against the trials sparked by fears of contamination, officials said on Wednesday. The country's Food and Drugs Authority said it had begun enlisting volunteers in Hohoe in the Volta region to be injected with drugs made by Johnson & Johnson and Bavarian Nordic as part of a global Ebola vaccine drive.

Inventure Foods sets reopen date for plant closed due to Listeria

Phoenix-based Inventure Foods Inc. is close to reopening one of its plants after a recall of some its products temporary shut the plant down and cost the company $15.9 million. Inventure closed the Georgia plant that manufactures and packages frozen food products for its Fresh Frozen brand in April when Listeria monocytogenes were found in the facility.
Swimming advisory issued for portion of Gulfport beach due to high bacteria levels

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued a water contact advisory Wednesday for a sampling station in Gulfport. This segment of beach is not closed, however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in this area.
