(Telecompaper) Altice announced an agreement to sell 30 percent of Cablevision to BC Partners and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Altice agreed in September to buy the US cable operator for a total USD 17.7 billion. It will sell the 30 percent stake for USD 1.0 billion to the two partners, who also participated in Altice's takeover of the US cable operator Suddenlink. The shareholders agreement between Altice, BCP and CPPIB for Cablevision is on similar terms to the Suddenlink transaction announced in May, Altice said. The acquisition of Cablevision is expected to close in the first half of 2016, pending regulatory approvals.

Cablevision drops TV bundle lawsuit against Viacom

" Cablevision has dropped a two-year-old lawsuit against Viacom that accused the channel operator behind MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central of charging it exorbitant fees if it did not also carry less popular channels like Logo and Palladia. The companies said in a joint statement Friday they had resolved the legal fight and were "entering into mutually beneficial business arrangements."

Two funds in talks to buy over $1 billion Cablevision stake

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and private-equity firm BC Partners are in talks to acquire more than $1 billion in Cablevision Systems Corp. shares as part of Altice NV's takeover of the U.S. cable provider, according to people familiar with the matter. The amount hasn't been finalized and a deal could still fall apart, the people said, asking not to be identified because the negotiations are confidential.
