Powell's is proud to offer a second semester of Powell's City College, a series of classes on the arts and culture of Portland taught by members of the community with expertise in a particular field. All classes are limited to 10 students. Classes will be held at Powell's City of Books. Browse all upcoming Powell's City College courses here. Theatre for the Theatre Goer At the heart of this course will be the art of theatre and why it matters. Course participants will be swiftly and experientially introduced to the work of the playwright, actor, director, and designer. The second class (March 22) will meet at Performance Works Northwest in SE Portland at 7:30pm to attend the play Hard Times Come Again No More, a Sowelu Theater production based on the works of Meridel LeSueur. Tuition: $195. Instructor: Lorraine Bahr, award-winning actress, director, and teacher. Fridays, March 15 – April 5, 3 – 5pm at Powell's City of Books (Class on March 22 will meet at Performance Works Northwest at 7:30pm) Register for this class.
