And while experts said the death toll isn't unusual for this point in the season, they agreed that the dire statistic is a good reminder to seniors to protect themselves. "We know the elderly in general are more likely to die from the flu," said Lynn Sosa , deputy state epidemiologist with the Connecticut Department of Public Health .
