Vehicles on display at North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) have in common an increased use of advanced aluminum alloys. This increase echoes findings from latest survey of automakers by Ducker Worldwide, which indicated that aluminum is leading material in engine and wheel markets and is seeing fast-gaining market share in hoods, trunks, and doors as well. Automakers have said they plan to increase aluminum use from 327 lb in 2009 to 550 lb in 2025.
