9-month closure planned for South Ferry subway entrance

The main entrance to the South Ferry subway station in Manhattan will soon close for nine months to allow for Hurricane Sandy remediation and rehabilitation work, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The closure will span from Nov. 2 to Aug. 12 for the work, which will include the replacement of old, Sandy-damaged equipment in the main entry point for the 1 and R train complex.
