Total rail traffic for the first quarter was down 6 percent with carload traffic down over 11 percent and intermodal traffic up 1 percent. Most top commodities carload traffic is down; chemicals has been steady and motor vehicles and equipment has been the strongest performer, but recent trends indicate softening.
