Down almost 50% year to date it has underperformed the S&P 500 by a whopping 15 times. By nearly all other measurements however Spirit Airlines is having a fantastic year, raking in large profits, with fantastic margins all while being an industrial company growing 30% year over year! The latest announcement today in its investor update that its revenue decline in the 4th quarter will be even greater than it was in the 3rd quarter sent its stock down 14%.
