On World Water Day, ASTM International approved new standard that will help laboratories monitor for presence of technetium-99 (Tc-99) in water. Tc-99 is a radioactive material often found around facilities that handle nuclear material. D8026, Practice for Determination of Tc-99 in Water by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, will provide environmental monitoring community and others with a rapid and accurate way to measure its presence using mass spectrometry.
