AT&T backs off on threat to halt fiber rollout

AT&T's threat to pull the plug on its GigaPower network may have been a lot of hot air. AT&T Inc. CEO Randall Stephenson told reporters at a conference last month that the company would hold off on investing in a new fiber network in response to President Barack Obama 's call for new rules to protect net neutrality.
