Advertiser: Tony Abbott's office was counselled by some of the ministers in the Abbott cabinet that it would be unwise to try to keep climate change off the agenda for the G20 summit.
If Australia tried to avoid the subject, it would become the dominant one, ministers advised. This warning was offered more than once, and over the course of about a year.
Of course, that advice was exactly right. And, of course, the prime minister's office ignored it.
