Alcatel Onetouch launches new LTE phones, tablets at MWC

(Telecompaper) Alcatel Onetouch unveiled a range of new smartphones, three tablets and a LTE home hub at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company introduced the Pop S3, Pop S7, and Pop S9, entry-level Android phones with 4-6 inch screens available in a range of colours. With Mozilla, Alcatel launched the new Fire C low-cost Firefox phone and LTE Fire S for the mid-range. It also showed the Fire 7, the first tablet running Firefox OS. For the fitness market, the company unveiled the Pop Fit smartphone, which comes with an accessory armband to use while exercising. It features the RunKeeper GPS activity tracking app and will be available in a choice of five colours. Alcatel's other tablets include the Pixi 7, a Wi-Fi only Android 4.4 device that will launch in EMEA in July at a recommended price of EUR 79. Alcatel also introduced an entry-level 4G tablet. The Pop 7S also comes with Android 4.4 and Miracast as well as a faster quad-core processor, IPS display, Bluetooth and 3 megapixel back camera. For home broadband, Alcatel launched the Home H850, a hub to connect up to 20 Wi-Fi devices to LTE. It also has three data ports and a fixed telephony port. It can be connected to Alcatel's Mobile Media Box (Home MM10), an external hard disc with Wi-Fi to share content across the network. The home devices will be available in July.
