In 2013 : Overloaded websites and jammed phone lines frustrated consumers for a second day as they tried to sign up for coverage using new health insurance exchanges 100 years ago today: World War wire: "When people read of the barb wire entanglements of the battlefields of Europe, or of the entanglements charged with electricity for the confinement of prisoners of war, few of them know that the wire was made in Allentown. When the war broke out the Allentown wire mill, which is a part of the United States Steel Corporation, shut down suddenly, throwing out of work thousands of skilled workers.
