(Telecompaper) Amazon has announced it is now offering the Amazon Fire phone for USD 0.99 with a two-year contract. Customers can purchase Fire on www.amazon.com and from AT&T in the US. The smartphone was first launched in June for USD 199 for 32 GB storage or USD 299 with 64 GB. Amazon also announced its first agreement to offer the phone outside the US, with Deutsche Telekom in Germany and O2 UK. The German operator is offering the phone for EUR 1 with certain plans, such as Magenta M for EUR 49.95 per month, and O2 customers can get the phone with plans starting at GBP 33 per month. Until the end of the year, customers buying the phone will also get a one-year free subscription to Amazon Prime. The operators have already started pre-sales, and the phone will be available in stores 30 September.
