Another Earth Day, and America yawns Deck: Americans are much more aware of their role in a clean environment today and most act to do their part. However, I think most of us would appreciate a drop in the level alarmism emanating from some quarters. Synopsis: Earth Day was yesterday and the annual commemoration, which was initiated in 1970, has taken on the status of almost a holy day for many folks. Like most established observances in society these days, it now seems to exude more of a commercial nature to it (concerts, festivals, etc.) than contributions of actual service.
