(Telecompaper) Argentina will be launching public tenders for national and regional spectrum from which it expects to raise up to USD 500 million within the next 60 days, reports local portal iProfesional, citing the country's minister for modernisation Andres Ibarra. The two tenders will consist of a nationwide call for the country's MNOs Claro (America Movil), Movistar (Telefonica) and Personal (Telecom Argentina) and a regional call for smaller, independent operators such as iPlan and Telecentro. A total of 130MHz of frequencies will be made available in the 700 MHz and 1.7-2.1 GHz bands plus regional spectrum in the 1.8 GHz-1.9 GHZ bands, said Ibarra at the 7th Latin American Telecommunications Congress.
