The expansive tan brick cosmetics factory off Interstate 40 in North Little Rock has been a central Arkansas landmark for nearly half a century. Viewed from the road, the building's west end proclaims Maybelline in vibrant red letters while letters on the east end spell out L'Oreal USA, the French firm that bought the company in 1996 for $508 million.
