The Australian Conservation Foundation has released a report calling on Australian banks to rule out involvement in financing controversial coal projects proposed for Queensland's Galilee Basin near the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area. The report called Equatorial Principles names four major banks as signatories, including Australia-New Zealand Banking Corp , Commonwealth Bank of Australia , National Australia Bank , and Westpac Banking Corp. The EPs is a result of a research undertaken by ACFs Energy Analyst Tristan Knowles which investigates how Australian banks should deal with financing coal projects in the area.
