(Telecompaper) BlackBerry announced that BlackBerry Messenger will be available for users of the iPhone and Android devices from 21 September. The company said in May it would make the BBM service available on other platforms, and it's now launching the apps on Google Play and Apple's App Store. BBM allows messaging with other users of the app in chats of up to 30 people, as well as file-sharing and presence features. The service counts over 60 million users on BlackBerry devices, sending more than 10 billion messages per day. The new BBM app will be available 21 September for Android devices (4.0 and higher) and on 22 September for iPhones running iOS6 or higher. BlackBerry said it will activate voice and video calls on the apps in future, as well as its Channels feature for following people with similar interests.
