BIO honored Doctor J. Craig Venter with 2016 George Washington Carver Award for innovation in industrial biotechnology. Speaking on behalf of BIO, Brent Erickson praised Doctor Venter's determination and commitment "to providing innovative biotech solutions to some of today’s greatest challenges in energy, nutrition, and medicine." Erickson further lauded Venter's development of technology which enables sustainable economic growth through use of renewable resources.
