The Draper Mercantile's dining room was filled to capacity Tuesday night as local residents filed in to see The New York Times bestselling author Beth Macy speak about her debut novel, "Factory Man." Macy, a former reporter for The Roanoke Times, wrote "Factory Man" after a story she followed in her journalism career centering on Bassett Furniture in Bassett, Va., which fought to keep its operation local in the face of off-shoring.
