Anis Rahman, founder of Applied Research and Photonics, Inc., and his son Aunik, have developed way to measure thickness of paint layers and size of particles embedded inside. Technique uses terahertz reflectometry, in which beam of terahertz-frequency radiation is fired onto paint. Unlike conventional methods, paint remains undamaged making technique useful for variety of applications, from cars to artifacts to cancer detection. Researchers will describe work at CLEO: 2014 being held June ...This story is related to the following:Trade Associations
