RT: An experiment in Iceland has confirmed that carbon dioxide, a major factor in global climate change, can be trapped in basalt rocks. Over 95 percent of CO2 pumped underground near Reykjavik turned into solid carbonate in less than two years. Called CarbFix, the experimental injection of CO2 dissolved in water was described by researchers in a paper published by the Science magazine this week.
