As heavy rains continued to inundate Central Texas this week , several corporations and nonprofits in the region have stepped up to offer assistance to people, businesses and organizations affected by the flooding. Earlier this week, Whole Foods Market Inc. , which was itself a victim of devastating Memorial Day flooding back in 1981 when it had a single store on Lamar Boulevard, said it would offer a total of $1 million in zero-interest loans to businesses impacted by flooding along the Shoal Creek floodplain in downtown Austin.
