(Telecompaper) The government of Chad has announced its intention to partially privatise the Societe des Telecommunications du Tchad (Sotel Tchad) and is inviting interested parties to express their interest in a majority stake. The government said it is making the restructuring of Chad's telecommunications and ICT sector a priority in order to improve the availability and quality of services available to the public, particularly the availability and quality of internet and mobile services. The state is looking to sell 80 percent of Sotel Tchad. Investors may be required to demonstrate experience in managing telecommunications assets and financing capacity of over EUR 200 million. Investors may act in a consortium provided that each consortia has a majority (+51%) investor.
