China Telecom grows Q1 revenues 15%

(Telecompaper) China Telecom posted a first quarter profit of CNY 4.70 billion, up 10 percent from CNY 4.27 billion a year earlier. Operating revenues grew 14.6 percent to CNY 77.82 billion from CNY 67.93 billion and operating revenues excluding mobile terminal sales were CNY 68.58 billion, up 10.1 percent year-on-year. China Telecom's first quarter EBITDA stood at CNY 24.93 billion, up 35.5 percent, and the EBITDA margin was 36.3 percent, representing an increase of 6.8 percentage points. The company ended the quarter with 168.03 mobile subscribers, after gaining 7.41 million new subscribers in the quarter. The total includes 78.07 million 3G customers. Fixed broadband subscribers grew by 3.06 million to 93.18 million but the number of local access lines in service fell by 1.30 million in the quarter to 161.70 million.
