(Telecompaper) China Unicom's first quarter revenues grew by 15.4 percent to CNY 70.60 billion from CNY 61.19 billion a year earlier, with service revenues totalling CNY 57.06 billion, up by 14.2 percent. Mobile service revenues were CNY 35.24 billion, up by 20.4 percent. China Unicom added 11.40 million new mobile customers in the quarter to bring its total mobile base to 250.71 million. 3G service revenues were CNY 19.23 billion and 3G net adds reached 11.36 million to bring the total number of 3G subscribers to 87.82 million. Fixed-line service revenues were CNY 21.66 billion, up by 5.4 percent with broadband generating CNY 11.21 billion, growing by 11 percent year-on-year. China Unicom added 2.37 million new broadband customers in the quarter to bring the total to 60.91 million. EBITDA went up by 18 percent to CNY 20.22 billion and EBITDA margin rose by 1.2 percentage points to 35.4 percent. Profit for Q1 was CNY 1.90 billion, up 88.5 percent from CNY 1.01 billion a year earlier.
