Clarin wins appeal, court says media law unconstitutional

2013-04-21 08:50:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Grupo Clarin has scored an important victory in its battle with the Argentinean government over the enforcement of a media law. A federal appeals court ruled in favor of Clarin, shielding it from Argentina's government intent to implement a media law that would force Clarin to sell some of its most profitable assets, such as its cable-TV business. The court's three judges unanimously declared key of parts of the law unconstitutional, delivering a political blow to Argentine President Cristina Kirchner, who has made bringing down Clarin one of her top priorities, Dow Jones reports.
